It is that time of year again. Where you begin working in the yard, perhaps go on a bike ride or two, and in general put winter behind you. Not so fast; KT-22, a.k.a. “The Mothership” will be closed after this weekend until next season. And we are a long ways off from next ski season.
It is already a gorgeous day out there, and temperatures are meant to climb into the mid-60’s! What a great day to get some spring skiing in and say goodbye for the season to the best chairlift at Squaw.
Looking for something to do with the kids at Squaw? Earth Day celebrations will take place throughout the day at the Village at Squaw Valley, including live music, arts and crafts for the kids, and a fashion show.
And don’t forget the Customer Appreciation party at the Chamois afterwards- If you throw your Buddy Pass, a punch card for Budweisers that you wear with your ski pass, you might win glorious prizes, even a season pass!

There is nothing like getting out of town to appreciate where you call home. This weekend I went with my neighbors down to the Northern California coast for some camping and abalone diving. Although the weather was cold and windy, we were loving being at the ocean! It is such a craggy, breathtaking landscape in that section of coast. Wild irises and lilies were in bloom, gray whales were migrating north and showing their shiny backs, and seals were competing with the abalone divers for food. After a few hours’ drive, we were home again in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and marveled about the place we live. You can ski in the snow, and play in the Pacific Ocean in the same day.
Ahhh, California. Living here rules.
Speaking of which, I have been ranting about what an awesome time it is to buy right now. One of the best times in history, in fact. Well it seems that people are beginning to listen to me. Houses that I have been watching on our local MLS for months are beginning to go into escrow. Inventory in my Sierra Meadows Ponderosa Palisades neighborhood is beginning to lessen, making the housing market appear attractive again. Could we really be coming around finally? Spring has a way of blooming hope around here…
Happy Tuesday!

This Time Magazine article written by Dan Cadlec was passed onto me by a colleague in my office. Finally, some intelligent analysis about the obvious benefits to buying real estate in the current market. Waiting for the supposed bottom to hit might not be the best financial call given the inevitable interest rate hikes.
I love the quote that the above referenced article used by J.D. Rockefeller, “The way to make money is to buy when blood is running in the street”. Umm, that time would pretty much be NOW.
If you are ready to get off the fence and buy, give me a call.
