smoke, smoke, and more smoke
California is on fire. And it is only June. It has been so smoky here in Tahoe that I havent been able to leave the house for the past week. Not fun if you have children and are stuck inside during Summer. It looks like perpetual coastal fog.
Apparently there are an estimated 1000 wildfires burning throughout the state, with the primary fires burning near coastal Big Sur, the Yuba River Valley, and the American River Valley. Not to mention countless other smaller wildfires burning.
Anyway, scary stuff. And I have no idea how to segue that into an article that my Aunt Eileen sent me from the New York Times last week written by Leslie Kaufman, but here goes….
As the dollar weakens, foreigners are eyeing up our high-end markets, from Manhattan to Lake Tahoe, from the Hamptons to Beverly Hills.
Realtors nationwide report an increase in owners in these areas whose primary address are over seas.
Interesting. I suppose somebody has to keep this sinking housing market afloat…
On a more optimistic note, I actually wrote up an offer yesterday. Yay me! An actual offer. I have been showing more property lately, and have a handful of clients who intend to purchase this summer. In my own microcosm of real estate, I am seeing less inventory and more interest. Prices are still dropping, but we may be at or near the bottom.
Thank God.
This is the last weekend of relative calm before 4th of July kicks off the Tahoe summer tourist season.
Stay out of smoke, pray for rain, and have a great weekend.
