How to Sell a House When You Have to Sell It NOW

This is the title of the article I was given from my friend Rob written by David Crook last week in The Wall Street Journal.

I know everyone and their mother is writing and forecasting about real estate. It is a slippery fish to get both hands on and even harder to make broad statements that apply to every real estate market in the country.

This article grabbed my attention because it is a no nonsense approach to selling your house and accepting that the current selling climate might be the way real estate will be for a long while (think years…). So embrace it and think outside the box if you are a seller or a real estate agent right now.
It includes such innovative marketing strategies like hiring a string quartet at higher-end open houses and having a clown on the corner handing out flyers, to more practical marketing avenues appropriate for today’s buyer like advertising on Zillow.com, Trulia, Cyberhomes, and Eppraisal.

In this market, realtors are bucking their previous bad rap of negotiating contracts from their Iphone while poolside in Cabo, and actually busting their hump and employing every marketing strategy available to get a house sold.

If you are struggling with a seller who is still remembering what their neighbor got in 2005 for their home, or you yourself are thinking of listing your house because you need to, give this a read. It is a great article.

Today is Saturday in Truckee, there is no smoke, and it is a beautiful day to recreate here in the mountains. The Tour De Fat is happening at Truckee Regional Park on Brockway Road. The event is put on by the New Belgium Brewing Company. It is part beer fest, part eccentric bike parade, music fest, and total family fun. I have attended this event in the past and it is a blast. Ride your bike to the park today and join the fun.
